Lucas County Human Trafficking Coalition Grant Update
The Lucas County Human Trafficking Coalition is thrilled to be awarded the Look Beneath the Surface grant from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Ohio Office of Public Safety/Office of Criminal Justice Services.
This three-year grant will continue the momentum started through the Rescue & Restore grant by continuing to work to identify foreign born victims of human trafficking with a new focus on identifying domestic human trafficking victims. This work covers 21 counties throughout Northwest Ohio and includes the Regional Grant Coordinator, Amy LaGesse, and Local Outreach Partners across the region.
These individuals provide trainings to professionals that might come into contact with human trafficking victims, provide technical assistance to agencies implementing human trafficking protocols, works with Coalitions across Northwest Ohio to ensure consistency and participates in public awareness events.
This grant cycle also focuses on engaging specific populations including victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, opiate and substance abuse populations, runaway and homeless youth, migrant farm workers and unaccompanied immigrant youth, and persons with disabilities.
