Lutheran Ministries of Mercy Annual Meeting Update

The three agencies of the Lutheran Ministries of Mercy converged on the Hilton Garden Inn at Levis Commons, Perrysburg, once again for the 2017 Annual Meeting. With the theme “Free in Christ, Light of the World!”, Lutheran Social Services of Northwestern Ohio, Luther Home of Mercy, and Filling Homes welcomed LMM Board Members, clergy and delegates from our supporting congregations, volunteers, donors and many friends of our ministries for an evening of looking back and looking forward.

Highlights of the evening included the musical talents of Filling Homes’ and Luther Home of Mercy’s clients, who with the accompaniment of Nancy Stroscher on piano, led a sing-a-long, as well as the heartfelt testimonial of Carmen McBride, who has benefitted from the services of LSS’s Financial Opportunity Center.

Featured speaker for the evening was Bishop Daniel Beaudoin, Bishop of Northwestern Ohio Synod – ELCA, who spoke about being Free in Christ to be the Light of the World. The evening began and ended with prayers offered by Pastor Terry Cripe, President of the Ohio District, LC-MS.

Pastor Don Wukotich gave the LMM report of 2016. This was Pastor Don’s last report at President/CEO as he retires on May 1st of this year. He shared all the good that is done through our ministries but reminded us that there is still work to be done. Later in the evening, a slideshow presentation commemorating Pastor Don’s 30+ years with our agencies preceded the announcement of the establishment of the Donald L. Wukotich Scholarship Fund created to honor Pastor Don’s years of service.
