Peace

There is a light that every child has in their eyes when they are born and for many lasts throughout their childhood and carries them through adulthood. Unfortunately, there are many things that happen to children that seem to steal that glimmer away. Children who are being abused (physically, sexually, and mentally), witnessing abuse, and experiencing a loss (i.e. death, divorce, placed in foster care) struggle to keep their light.

Therapists working with these children as well as those struggling with behavioral and attention issues know that children are resilient and can survive and thrive without losing their light. A child who cannot verbalize their pain may use play to express their feelings and work through their trauma. Lutheran Social Services staff understands that we must take children by the hand and guide them through the tough times and help them and their caregivers to shine brightly again.

Your donation can help licensed staff work with children and their families as well as provide the special tools and supplies often needed to work with them.
